Description
Whitewater, river and desert expedition medicine training in a beautiful and austere environment. Aimed at medical professionals and first responders who want to learn hands-on skills and the latest in wilderness medicine, the week-long expedition includes medical and whitewater training through interactive discussions and presentations, practical training, and simulations in the field.
Activities are adjusted to the river conditions and whitewater at the time of the course, but the location is deliberately chosen for having consistent year-round suitability.
The 2025 course takes place on the Orange River running along the border between South Africa and Namibia, winding deep into the desert through the spectacular ǀAi-ǀAis/Richtersveld Transfrontier Park.
After getting acclimatized and initial training in our comfortable basecamp, we spend the rest of the course exploring downriver, camping wild and experiencing the peace of the desert, natural elements, wildlife… and some wild water.
